Talibando one of Detroit's hottest up and comers— impresses with his new single and music video, “Celebrity Status,” which is out today via EMPIRE. The track is produced by platinum-producer RonRonTheProducer (Shoreline Mafia, Drakeo the Ruler, 03 Greedo) and for the video, Talibando connected with director IMX Sebastian. Over swells of orchestral violins, Talibando casually raps about his early hustles and the lavish lifestyle he's grown accustomed to now.
The release follows up other recent singles, “Blindfold” and “Usher,” which dropped earlier this summer.Hailing from 7 Mile in East Detroit, Talibando has earned an impressive buzz in recent years for his calm, confident demeanor and motivational street raps. As Detroit has become rap’s epicenter, Talibando has been in the mix with the city’s elite artists, releasing several well received mixtapes and racking up millions of streams across collaborations with fellow Detroit favorites Peezy, Rio Da Yung Og, Icewear Vezzo, G.T. and Baby Smoove, to name a few. Talibando’s brotherhood with the city’s brightest new stars, Babyface Ray and Veeze, also paved the way for Talibando as the Motor City’s next in line for a breakout moment.
Together the three rep Navy Wavy and it's been said that Talibando represents the Navy in this equation; the anchor that holds the trio steady. Talibando kicked off 2023 with the release of his well-received album, WAR LORD, which featured memorable singles “Millions” featuring Veeze & LUCKI, “Make The Money” featuring BabyTron and “Swim Team” featuring Babyface Ray. The album was Talibando’s most cohesive body of work to date, showcasing his diverse ear for beats and commanding rap style. The album earned tremendous organic support from Pitchfork who wrote in their review that “Talibando’s hard-nosed kingpin raps will make you want to thump your chest.” HipHopDX added, “Talibando raps with the precision of a sharpshooter, introducing his origin story as a trapper with deep-set paranoia — a warlord veering onto the brink of madness.” These inventive raps and his growing confidence behind the mic led Audiomack to name Talibando as one of “10 Rappers You Should Know Right Now.” Last month, Talibando kept the new music coming with the video for his single “Usher” and he has hinted that more music is on the way. With another project on the horizon, Talibando is raising the bar for his quickly growing fanbase before he hits the road this fall on Veeze's highly anticipated The Ganger Tour which kicks off October 10th at Gramercy Theatre in New York City.
