Lil Bean welcomes Jackboy to San Francisco in the official music video for their single “Mob Ties.” One of the many standouts from Bean’s recent studio album, Still Campaignin, the track is produced by fellow San Francisco native Einer Bankz. Einer is well known for his viral ukulele videos alongside many of music’s biggest names as well as for producing Polo G’s #1 hit single “RAPSTAR.” The “Mob Ties” video comes as an exclamation point at the end of an exciting few months for Lil Bean who delivered a steady stream of new videos and had his album named by Pitchfork as one of “7 New Albums You Should Listen to Now.” Pitchfork also highlighted his feature on ShooterGang Kony's recent single “Up2Date,” saying “Bean’s hook is great, a classic Bay sound.” Apple Music 1 has been a big supporter as well, showcasing Bean and the "Mob Ties" single on their staple hip-hop show The Plug Radio. Jackboy has had a massive year in his own right and been in the news recently with his initiatives for Haiti earthquake relief and popular album Jackboy 2. Watch the video for “Mob Ties” here.
Since first emerging on the scene in 2019, Lil Bean’s music has been unavoidable throughout The Bay Area and after racking up more than 17 million streams on regional hits “Down 2 Ride” and “Swervin,” he’s stepping into the national spotlight. Raised in San Francisco’s Geneva Towers housing project, a music career wasn’t always the obvious choice. Lil Bean pursued basketball as his first passion but after losing his father at an early age he chose to stay in the city and make a way for his family. Encouraged to rap by peers who recognized his talent early, he scored a local hit with “Side of Me,” which was released in collaboration with childhood friend ZayBang. The song put them on the map, and Lil Bean capitalized on the momentum by quickly following up with his mixtapes HoodHero and Hood Chronicles, which have gone on to generate millions of streams. Lil Bean's soft spoken delivery and ear for melodic beats propelled him as a hometown hero, leading to collaborations with many of the region's most respected artists including E-40, SOBxRBE, Shoreline Mafia, Sage The Gemini, Lil Pete and ShooterGang Kony. Earlier this year, Lil Bean was tapped by Zaytoven for a star role on the superproducer’s mixtape, Zaytoven Presents: Fo15, which is a collaborative effort to highlight The Bay's hottest new artists. Lil Bean’s dedication to his city and to uplifting those around him has remained consistent as he continues to work closely with ZayBang, releasing the 2020 collaborative album, The Label, and sitting down together for an interview with No Jumper earlier this year. The city of San Francisco has been quick to adopt Lil Bean as their voice and with the release of his most polished body of work to date, his “buzz within the San Francisco area has blossomed even bigger but he's only getting started.” (HotNewHipHop)
