LANCEY FOUX RELEASES ALBUM LIFE IN HELLVIA HUMAN RE SOURCES / THE ORCHARD

Lancey Foux —the stylish, elusive London recording artist— releases his long-awaited album, LIFE IN HELL, which is out today via Human Re Sources / The Orchard. The expansive 22-song album arrives after years of cryptic hints and introduces a fresh perspective that cements Lancey as an unexpected virtuoso. Inspired by Lancey’s firsthand experiences and observations, LIFE IN HELL translates the sonically emotional experience of a dystopian world that's full of deep rapture, twisted motives and ugly truths. Executive produced by Jay Trench and Dane Burge with additional production from Kaytranada, BNYX and more, the album includes features from 070 Shake and Jahstar. Many of Lancey’s infamous and most requested songs appear on LIFE IN HELL, including the psychedelic "COLOURS,” rage-starting “WORLD ON FIRE,” and focus single, “PENDULUM,” which is a swaying, shoegaze-infused track that samples Seal's 1994 hit “Kiss from a Rose.” Throughout the past year, Lancey has embodied this transformative album with the introduction of an otherworldly purple character that serves as the antihero throughout LIFE IN HELL. On October 31st, fans will be able to experience Lancey’s underworld at an immersive Halloween event at the historical Gothic Revival landmark, Angel Orensanz Center, in New York City. RSVP for the event here and stream LIFE IN HELLhere.

Every artist reaches an audience. Lancey Foux appeals to a cult. He engenders a staggering level of fanaticism from listeners who pour over the meaning of his lyrics and seek out his trendsetting looks. Not only meeting, but exceeding a demand for artistic integrity, the UK rapper, creator, and style icon expanded this growing legend throughout the past year, stacking up more high profile cosigns, selling out headlining shows across the US and gracing the stages of many of the world’s premiere music festivals including Rolling Loud, Wireless, Splash! and Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash. His story begins in Plaistow, East London. Hailing from Uganda, mom and dad spoke Acholi and English in the house. Lancey’s father stood out as a businessman and a DJ, introducing him to music from Uganda and Congo. During school, he flourished in English, drama, and “anything that had to do with the arts.” Studying old school records inspired him “to be more of a listener when others spoke.” As much as he paid attention to those around him, he also listened to everyone from Blade Brown and Skepta to Future and Lil Wayne. Once he picked up a mic, he unleashed a deluge of music, including Pink, First Day At Nursery, and Pink II. In 2019, he broke into the global conversation with FRIEND OR FOUX, highlighted by “INDIA,” “DREAM,” and “GHETTO YOUT” [feat. Clairo, Bakar & Monkey 67]. The momentum increased on FIRST DEGREE, which he laced with bangers such as “WHAT U WANT” [feat. Skepta] and “Don’t TALK.” Attracting critical applause, Study Breaks hailed him as “an unexpected rockstar in the making,” and PAPER declared, “There Are No Limits to Lancey Foux.” Lancey has been championed by notable cultural figures like Virgil Abloh, Hector Bellerin, Matthew Williams, Rick Owens, Samuel Ross, Playboi Carti, Wizkid and many more. Simultaneously, Lancey has appeared as a model for Givenchy, Alexander McQueen, Jordan, Mulberry, MISBHV and RHUDE, to name a few. During 2021, he spent May through September in the States, visiting Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, and Las Vegas, recording at a prolific pace, and assembling what would become his mixtape LIVE.EVIL. Standouts from the mixtape include “OUTTAMYMIND!” [feat. Lil Yachty] and “25WAGG3DOU2” which have launched wild mosh pits at recent shows. Lancey has always challenged conventional ideas and makes a point of working with new artists who are pushing the genre forward. This has led to collaborations like Yeat’s “Luv monëy,“ KayCyy's “Look What I Found” and Tana's “Swaggin Like This.” As Lancey’s cultural influence becomes more pronounced, he has started to receive his flowers, with NME declaring that “Lancey Foux has a legacy in UK music that some still haven’t appreciated yet, but will surely know about soon.”
